assignment #11

As I was writing my play the hardest thing that I found frustrating was that i had to keep in my mind that I was writing a play not a story. that was really hard. the thing that kept reminding me that it was a play and not a story was the names on the margin and the stage directions. I found out that I can actually write a play and I used old fashioned words that i remembered from the previous plays I read. Once I started writing my play it was easy to make up the words, I didn't even have a story to go with my play I rather found it fun writing the play once i trained my mind to write a play and not a story. I didn't find anything unpleasant other than having to skip every other line as you write, other than that it went smoothly. I would be interested in writing screenplays one day if i get the time and the mind to do it and I don't think I would be amazing at it but I would like to try it. I'm more the novel writer type.

If I ever write a personal story it would be about my childhood and what I encountered in Africa. Africa is very different from the states. its like two different worlds. and when I came here everything changed. The people, school, the whole enviroment and it took me a while to get used to the fact that this will be my home for a long time. It changed for the better though, I got the opportunity to get good education and to meet new people.
This the editted version of my personal story. I would write my personal story based o a true experience not a fiction version of my life.

If I was to give a ten year old advice in growing it will be life is hard but never take it too seriously, have fun live a little, laugh alot, don't ever give up on anything if you set your mind to it. I would never give advice on my experiences because people are different and they might not even encounter what i did. I would give advice on their thoughts and their peers and the times they live in and defenitely some advice on schools. the advice on school will be what to expect and the different ways to excell in classes and how the easiest way to study for tests are. the advice on their thoughts would not be to dictate it but to be careful and be sure its what they want to think and stuff like that on what they do that's it because I know how my dad tells me what he thinks I should do and its annoying. The advice on their peers will be choose your friends and not waht they look like and what they wear but ehat is inside them and their personality. that's the advice my mom gave me when I was a kid.

Assignment #10

Theme is what makes whatever you write very interesting without a theme I don't think its worth much. Once i tried to write a story and I didn't know theme was required in a story so i started my story without an anchor which is what a theme is to a story and I showed it to my sophomore year english teacher to read. After he read it he asked what my story was about and I was confused because i thought I gave him the story to read and since he read it he knew what it was about. And then he told me I needed a theme for the story and I had to rewrite the story after I came up with a theme. Then I understood that a theme was very important in whatever you write. A good Literature, maybe needs to express an idea but, maybe not. But then if it has to last a long time then I think it needs to represent an Idea of what it actually is this is where the quote "read between the lines" comes in.

I think they last that long because people like them as well as they express a very strong idea of the past and nobody wants to give up the past. They are very hard pieces of literature that are hard to let go of like the pride and prejudice even to this day that is a very well liked book and they made a movie out of it. The authors from long time have a very different point of view about literature then the modern authors and that is caused by the past and waht kinds of things took place. Even if I write something it will be non-fiction and about my childhood experieance of civil war and that stuff so I don't see that lasting centuries or even years from the time its published.

One-long lasting impact around the world that I would write about will be about animal extinction and the humans role in that matter. Most animals are being wiped out of exsistence and humans are mostly responsible for that. Either be it hunting, chasing them away, skining them or scarin them all that is human caused. I would write about animal extinction even though there might be other authors who have wrote about it annually. I love animals and I hate to see them all gone. The next you know is humans will be in danger of extinction.

assignment #9

1. Something in the world that holds my concern will have to be nature and all the animals that live within the jungle or forest. there are some people who like the forest the way I do and there are the poachers who go to the jungle just to hunt animals. Me, personally i don't like those people at all. I mean I can understand why they do it, its either to get the skin of the animal they killed especially the big cats or to do research on a new species but that doesn't make what they are doing right. I love animals and i think its wrong to do them any harm just because they aren't human.
2. My little brother can be labeled dynamic. He has this never ending energy that most of the time gets him in trouble. He likes to do everything by force, you will know he is somewhere before you even set eyes on him because he is vigorously active.
3. the first book that I read for fun is a walk to remember by Nicholas Sparks, its also a movie. I love reading now that I know there are alot of different books and book genres to choose from.

Pursuit of Happiness

Happiness to me is a tpye of pleasure and satisfaction. when you are feeling joy or satisfied with something then you are happy. I most happy when iam celebrating EID, wedo all this get togethers with everyone from my family and all my relatives. we celebrate and have fun after, its really great. I get to see all my cousins who i don't see everyday, its awesome.
My mom is mostly where my source of happiness comes from. she is very understanding and really cares about me and my siblings, she givesme alot off lee way, she doesn't lose her temper often and she always treats me like a grown up even when i was a kid. me and my mom always understand each other and i like her alot. I impact happiness in my friends and my parents. my parents because they tell me a good kid, calm, mellow not short tempered or anything. my friends because i understand them and iam a very good listener. I think family is the greatest need in life, they support you and they are always 100% behind you no matter what you do. I know some people take that for granted but others don't even have families or anyone but themselves in the world.

assignment #8

I would like to use some of the poems I wrote and find some images or photos that go with it. The images or photos will correspond with the poem and that can create a photstory and then I could add music that will make it more appealing to the audience. Or one of the two short stories and collect some photos that go with it and maybe photos of real characters.

Totally new stuff like : a jungle, school, senior year, family, life back in Africa, new poems, a different short story.....

assignment #7

I enjoyed this quarter alot. I learned that you can be creative even if you don't mean to. the daily prompts were awesome, at first I didn't like it but then I came to enjoy them. the poetry was phenomenal and the short stories were the best.

The best thing about this quarter was writing poetry. I used to think that writing poetry was simple. You just rhyme a few words together and wala! you have a poem. But boy was I dead wrong. I learned that there was more to poetry than rhyming words. At first when Mrs. B. said we will be writing poems for a few weeks I will admitt I wasn't happy about it, but then I learned that writing poetry was actually fun. I found out that the words I used in the poems I wrote actually come from the heart and they were pretty good. I suprised myself.

I learned that I really enjoy writing alot although I knew that its just that I never tried to put it to test. I was writing a book over the summer ans still workung on it. After i learned about dialogue and how to use it in a story I made a few changes to the story I was writing. I think I'm self-driven.

I like suspense-romance genre. Either in non-fiction or fiction it doesn't really matter so I would really like to explore that area.

Assignment #6: Creating Fear

1. Maybe sometimes I like to be scared, if its not intense. There are limits to being frightened, like if you walk accidently in a forest at night then that's the kind of fear that can't be prevented. It just creeps up. But the kind of the fear that somebody or something creates in you then that can be prevented. because you can face it.
2. The worst thing that gets me shaking are anything that crawls. If I see one of those creepy crawly insects or animals, I just freeze and then start shaking with fear that it will touch me. thats just the type of fear that I can't prevent it just comes from within me. There isn't that I would consider horrific more than watching someone killed. I never saw anybody killed but watching it on T.V. gives me the creeps.
3. Madness is being excited intensely that it would lead to killing or doing horrific things. Being mad in my opinion can be if someone is driven to do things like killing or destroying things for no reason.
4. Someone can be driven to madness if they are alone and want attention they might do a horrible thing just to get the attention they need.

Assignment #4

The setting might mean that the author wanted to capture the readers attention. she is in the house all by her own and these guys drive up to her house and a guy she saw at the restuarant came out of the car and started adressing her by name and she didn't even know him. he tells her all these things about love and how he wants her. I think the author is trying to get the readers attention by Connie being alone in the house and the guy is trying to persuade her to come with him.

Connie 's character changes throughtout the story. When her friends dad takes her and her friend to the shopping plaza, she says they sneak out and go to a drive-in restaurant where older kids hang out. and while she was at the restaunrant this guy sees her and just leaves with him. while she out with this random guy, she sees Arnold Friend watching her and he says 'Gonna get ya, baby'. its like she's the one drawing attetion to herself so, Yeah I think she's the one who is asking for trouble. Connie's behavior is really weird when the guy tells her about all the stuff he will do to her, its really creepy.
The author's intention is to warn people for what they wish for they might exactly get it.
This story appeals to people because you get drawn to the part about Arnold Friend come to her house and she's all alone. You want to know what happens to her or what will she do to protect herself from this creepy guy, or what he will do to her. Its suspense and you want to know what happens in the end so you keep reading until the end.
i really don't know. Maybe he raped her. since sh didn't want her family with her so she got her wish.

Connie runs inside the house picks up the phone and she hears the dial tone, then there was a scream and the creepy guy told her to put the phone back, she did and then she felt numb all over and she was doing exactly what he told her and she followed him.

Task Two:
1. a very clear theme. a short story should explain what the story is about.
2. a short story shoul catch the reader's attention with the unexpected.
3. a short story should cover a short time span.
4. it shouldn't have too many characters.
5. make evey word count
6. a short story should have a narrow subject line
7. maybe it should be suspenseful
8. the plot should state the underlying message behind the words
9. a short story should be enjoyable
10.the reader should draw their own conclusion, meaning they could come up with their own ending.

assignment #3

Love

it comes to you unknown
at first it takes your breath away
its force greater than that of an army's
then it turns to be the most joyous feeling
the one time that you will never forget
its anticipation wild
excitement and frustration alike
love at first sight
heartache

heartache like feeling you are broken
something is ripped right out of you
heartache wishing you were dead
heartache like losing some part of your self
heartache like losing sight to light
your whole world is shattered into peaces
the world turns black and white
all the sunshine goes out of your heart

anticipation drains out of you
your confidence goes out the window
you view the world from different eyes
heartache resembles ripping of heart
heartbreak is like loosing your seslf in the world
heartache like going through thick fog
and never finding your way back out

something remembered

When I was sophomore I used to be called a bookwarm. I loved reading books, even the ones that we had to read for English class. The kids always had a complaint about a particular book that we had to read in class. I never complained and I always finished ahead of schedule. The number of books I read a day was insane, I would read at least 2 to 3 books a day. then one day one of may feinds told me about a book and they said it was a great book. My freind hates reading books at all, but when she mentioned this particular book I thought it had to be good since she likes it. The book is called The truth about forever by Sarah Dessen. So I purchased the book and set to reading it. It was a real page turner, it kept me awake for a whole night reading it. The book is at least four hundred pages. i read the book and I loved it. This was almost 2 years ago, but I read it at least 3 other times. There is this passage that i really liked and its really great. This is it:

"But i didn't let her finish. instead, I took one step
